The key features of the new iPad base are:
- works with the custom-designed Speck cases (and the classic base doesn't);
- is more stable;
- works in landscape mode to double as an iPad stand.
The classic iPad base and reflector have been discontinued and are no longer available for purchase or as free replacements.
If you already own the classic iPad base, know that it works with ALL Osmo games (including the newest), so there's no reason to replace it unless your reflector has been lost or broken, or you want to order a compatible iPad Speck case or to use Osmo with one of the newest slim bezel iPad models.
Also, please note that all Osmo game pieces (including those from the legacy and discontinued game sets) work with the new iPad base.
Classic Osmo iPad bases and reflectors are not compatible with the newest slim bezel iPad models, and new iPad bases are only compatible with those models if you use the new Osmo iPad Reflector (2021).
Both the new iPad base and the Speck cases are available for purchase in the Accessories section of PlayOsmo.com and through our retailers.
All Osmo Kits for iPad sold on our website now include the new iPad base, not the classic base.
