In order for the vision detection software to be able to distinguish what is meant as an obstacle in the game, a blank and untextured background (such as the Creative Board, or another whiteboard, or even a large sheet of white paper) is best for the optimal play experience.
For reference, all Osmo games work best on a blank white surface.
